Kerch police call on citizens to join the ranks of the people's volunteer militia

People’s squads are created on the initiative of citizens of the Russian Federation who have expressed a desire to participate in maintaining public order.
The main areas of activity of the people’s squads are:
1) assisting the police and other law enforcement agencies in maintaining public order;
2) participation in the prevention and suppression of offenses in the territory where the people’s militia is created;
3) participation in the protection of public order in cases of emergency situations;
4) dissemination of legal knowledge, explanation of rules of conduct in public places.
The activities of the public association of law enforcement focus «People’s Militia «Kerch» are managed by a commander elected by members of the people’s militias in agreement with local government bodies and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kerch.
The rules for joining public patrols and their activities are regulated by the Federal Law of April 2, 2014 No. 44-FZ «On the Participation of Citizens in the Protection of Public Order», the Federal Law of May 19, 1995 No. 82-FZ «On Public Associations» and the Law of the Republic of Crimea «On Certain Issues of Citizen Participation in the Protection of Public Order in the Republic of Crimea No. 288-ZRK/2016.
To join a people’s militia, a citizen of the Russian Federation must submit an application to the commander of the people’s militia, to which he must attach the following documents:
— photo 3×4 – 2 pcs.;
— a certificate from a drug addiction clinic;
— a certified copy of the passport.
After which the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Kerch carries out a routine check on this citizen (in accordance with Part 2 of Article 14 of Federal Law No. 44) for no more than 30 days.
