Kerch police seized as much as one and a half kilos of “weed” from a local resident

Employees of the drug control department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the city of Kerch received operational information about the involvement of a 44-year-old local resident in the illegal possession of a large batch of drugs.
During an inspection of the suspect’s home, police officers found and seized boxes, plastic jars, containers with a substance of plant origin of a gray-green color with a specific odor, and dried cannabis bushes— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The man explained that the substances found in his household contained drugs. He grew them and kept them for personal use without the purpose of marketing. Just the volumes…
According to the examination, the seized substances are the narcotic substance hemp with a total weight of 1,422 grams, the narcotic drug cannabis (marijuana) with a total weight of 96 grams and the narcotic drug cannabis resin (hashish oil) with a total weight of 8 grams,” the police noted.
A criminal case has been initiated under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation, production, processing of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues on a large scale”). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of three to 10 years.
