Scientists of the Department of Dentistry and Orthodontics of the Medical Academy of the Crimean Federal University have developed and patented a unique method for the treatment of chronic apical periodontitis (CAP). The disease is a complication of caries, in which the destruction of bone tissue around the top of the tooth occurs.
Our technique is very simple and safe for the patient. Violation of the structure of periodontal bone tissue is restored by introducing the patient’s plasma into the pathological focus, which avoids allergic reactions, side effects and complications. Thus, we avoid surgical intervention and restore the physiological function of the tooth. According to her, the use of standard treatment for chronic apical periodontitis can last up to six months, while the technique developed by KFU scientists reduces these periods to several appointments.
To date, periodontitis is considered the main cause of tooth loss in 40-50% of the adult population of Russia.
