KFU named the most seismically dangerous regions of Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
A significant part of Crimea, including its southern coast, areas of the western and eastern coasts, are in a zone of increased seismic hazard.
Landslides in Crimea are most often activated due to heavy rainfall. In the coastal zone, they can occur due to the abrasion effect of water. On the southern coast of Crimea, both abrasion and erosion landslides and mixed types of this dangerous natural phenomenon are observed. In the same region, for example, several types of, — the press service of the university quotes the head of the Department of Geotechnics and Structural Elements of Buildings of the Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture of KFU. V. I. Vernadsky Igor Dyakov.
According to him, any building that is being built in a seismically hazardous zone, according to the project, provides for measures to protect against these impacts. In Crimea, it is impossible to design and build a building in a seismically hazardous area without observing anti-seismic measures, since the project will not pass the examination, and the building permit will not be obtained.
When designing buildings and structures, engineering and geological features of the territory, its seismic activity, the presence of dangerous geological processes are studied, and a calculation is made for seismic effects. Specialists in their work adhere to the norms that provide for certain constructive solutions. For example, in buildings with a wall structural system, anti-seismic belts, masonry reinforcement, framing of openings are provided — these are technical measures that are not visible from the outside.— Igor Dyakov notes.
According to him, Crimea is located in a seismically dangerous zone, which also passes through the Caucasus. At the moment, there is no reliable warning system that warns of the occurrence of such natural hazards as earthquakes or landslides.
