KFU operates a modern laboratory center for the development of personalized medicine
Krympress reports:
On the basis of the Medical Institute named after the S. I. Georgievsky Crimean Federal University named after V. I. Vernadsky, a modern laboratory center was opened, the activities of which are aimed at developing and introducing new high -tech methods of research and the development of personalized medicine in the Republic of Crimea. The university has already received licenses for the entire spectrum of laboratory tests (clinical laboratory diagnostics, histology, pathology, medical genetics) and forensic medical examination.
The center is located on the basis of a renovated laboratory corps with modern laboratories that meet the international standards of GLP, which are combined within the framework of the structure of the engineering and cellular biotechnologies and operates on the principles of the Center for Collective Use. As a result of the modernization and bringing of laboratories in accordance with international standards, we are able to conduct a wide range of the most modern research and introduce new methods of diagnosis and treatment in practical healthcare. This, of course, will positively affect the quality of medical care in the region,-said the project manager, corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, director of the engineering and cellular biotechnology engineering center of the Medical Institute of the KFU named after V.I. Vernadsky Anatoly Kubyshkin.
One of the priority areas of the center is molecular diagnosis of cancer. Until recently, such studies were possible only outside the Crimea, which created significant logistics difficulties and increased the terms of obtaining results.
In Crimea, we became pioneers in the field of localization of molecular diagnostics in oncology. Now, thanks to the availability of modern equipment and qualified specialists, we can conduct these studies on the spot, which significantly increases the efficiency and effectiveness of the diagnosis. In addition, this allows you to establish a closer interaction between the laboratory assistant and the attending physician, which positively affects the choice of the method of targeted therapy and the whole process of treating the patient, — emphasized Anatoly Kubyshkin.
The center also actively develop studies in the field of microbiology, including experts develop innovative drugs based on the natural components of Crimean plants with regenerative and antibacterial properties. In addition, work is being carried out on the creation of new panels of genetic diagnostics, which will predict the development of various diseases and develop individual strategies for prevention, healing and treatment.
We are developing new panels for genetic diagnostics, which is an important direction for us both from the point of view of the scientific and diagnostic result and the development of educational activity. Individualization and personified treatment is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation on the development of medical science and practice for the coming years— said Anatoly Kubyshkin.
The center was created as part of the project of the Priority 2030 program “Creating a Center for Collective Use of Laboratory Equipment”. It is a base for testing and creating new technologies. As Anatoly Kubyshkin notes, the center will become a powerful tool for the development of medical science and practice in Crimea, and will also make a significant contribution to improving the quality of life of the population.
