KFU photographer's project shortlisted for the Loyalty to Science award

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The project of the photographer of the press service of the Crimean Federal University Ilya Gogunsky «Secrets of the cave «Tavrida»» was shortlisted for the VIII All-Russian Prize «For fidelity to science — 14». The project entered the top five in the Science Photographer of the Year nomination.

We were one of the first among the media to descend into the cave after its discovery. For me, it was unexpected and quite exciting, because it was my first time descending with the help of a caving system. After the descent, we ended up in the main hall, and then a thorny path awaited us through narrow manholes. We saw mummified roots that are more than 2 million years old, bones of ancient animals. We went down into the cave more than once, and after each descent we discovered something new. Over the years, we have accumulated a large archive of photographic materials from the moment the cave was discovered to the creation on its basis of the Scientific Speleo-Paleontological Complex of KFU and the opening of a tourist route. It was quite unexpected and even exciting for me that I was able to get into the top five. This project has become something exciting for me. I hope that he will be appreciated , — the press service of the university quotes the chief public relations specialist, photographer of the press service of KFU. IN AND. Vernadsky Ilya Gogunsky.

This year, the award «For fidelity to science» received more than a thousand applications from 75 regions of Russia in 14 nominations. Laureates and students will be announced at the awards ceremony scheduled for the end of November. The award is held within the framework of the Decade of Science and Technology announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
