KFU scientists have found a way to speed up the processing of animal and poultry waste
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Scientists from the Crimean Federal University have developed a technology for the accelerated processing of poultry and livestock waste into compost. It is based on the use of a microbial consortium. This was announced by Associate Professor of the Department of Botany and Plant Physiology and Biotechnology of KFU. V. I. Vernadsky Igor Bugara. Scientific work is carried out within the framework of the program of strategic academic leadership «Priority 2030» (national project «Science and Universities»).
We use laboratory bioreactors, select the cultivation mode and ensure optimal growth of microorganisms. They are used in a microbiological consortium that can be used to treat animal and poultry waste in factories and further as compost in agriculture— quotes the press service of the university associate professor of the Institute of Biochemical Technologies, Ecology and Pharmacy KFU Igor Bugar.
According to him, the advantage of the technology lies in the speed of composting: the process takes only 1.5-2 months, which is two to three times faster than others. This result has been confirmed by research.
Microorganisms play a key role in the recycling process. They are added to the nutrient medium in the bioreactor, where the cultivation takes place. Optimal conditions, temperature and rotation parameters, as well as the correct combination and optimal number of microorganisms in the preparation volume — this is what allows you to speed up the process.
The need for this technology was, is and will be. The constant production at the enterprises provides them with a large amount of waste that must be disposed of. The optimal terms that we offer allow us to position ourselves as the highest quality, fastest and most affordable drug.— Igor Bugara notes.
The technology is planned to be patented and introduced to regional and federal enterprises within a year.
