KFU student Denis Chachiev won half a million rubles for the development of a robot

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Student of the Physical-Technical Institute of the Crimean Federal University Denis Chachiev won 500 thousand rubles in the competition of innovative projects under the UMNIK program. A graduate student has developed a surgical assistant robot.

We were approached by surgeons of the clinic of St. Luke KFU with a request to automate the task of holding surgical instruments during operations. Together with Yuri Vyacheslavovich Sosnovsky, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Modeling of the Physicotechnical Institute of KFU, I developed a robotic assistant to the surgeon, who solves the problem. The Institute of Physics and Technology helps in many ways in the development and manufacture of innovative devices. For example, many parts of the device were made on simulation equipment.the student says.

The master student will use the funds won to develop his innovative project from a scientific and technical idea to a finished commercial product. Features of the development are consistent with the requirements of surgeons at the clinic of St. Luke at the Crimean Federal University. They consist in the fact that the preliminary setting of the position is carried out by the surgeon, and the robot holds the instruments in a static position. The robot can also be controlled using voice commands.

At the same time, the cost of such a device is much lower than that of the closest foreign analogues. Russian analogues could not be found at all. At the moment, the device is a prototype that performs an important task for the medical industry. But we plan to refine it to apply it more universally.— the press service of the university Denis Chachiev quotes.

The student also presented this project at the International Festival of Scientific and Technical Creativity of Children and Youth “Ot Vinta!”, which operates under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. This festival is a showcase of projects and practices of young engineers from all regions of the country, a participant in the largest forums in Russia and abroad. Recall that the UMNIK program was organized by the Crimean representative office of the FGBU Innovation Promotion Fund and has been operating in the republic for the seventh year already. It is aimed at supporting commercially oriented scientific and technical projects of young researchers from 18 to 30 years old. The selection takes place in six priority areas: digital technologies, medicine and health-saving technologies, new materials and chemical technologies, new devices and smart industrial resource-saving energy.
