KFU students developed design projects for schools in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Students of the Academy of Construction and Architecture of the Crimean Federal University developed design projects for school spaces for educational institutions in Crimea as part of the federal project “Dream School”. The final defense of student work took place at the university on June 11.
Students from the Department of Urban Planning took part in the federal program. They developed design projects for three Crimean schools selected by the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of the Republic of Crimea: School-gymnasium No. 10 named after. E.K. Pokrovsky, Livadia sanatorium boarding school and MBOU “School-gymnasium, kindergarten No. 25”.
To create projects, student teams examined school buildings, analyzed and searched for options for design solutions for premises, studied current trends in the design of school spaces and requirements for the materials and furniture used, and also assessed the perception of premises and developed sketches of design projects.
Having participated in the previous proposal defense, which took place at the end of May, I was pleasantly surprised at how far our students had progressed in their own development, which is extremely important. The assessment of school directors and staff is also very important, because teachers and students in the designed buildings that we are considering will have to study and work. Today I will hope that all projects will receive their final completed form, that all the comments that were made have been taken into account, and, accordingly, our projects should continue to take leading positions and be among the winners, — quotes the press service of the university and. O. Rector of the Crimean Federal University Vladimir Kuryanov.
The chairman of the commission addressed the project participants with a welcoming speech via video conference Public Chamber of the Russian Federation for Education and Education Natalya Kravchenko and Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Olga Petrova.
It is very pleasant that the Crimean Federal University joined the “Dream School” project with such enthusiasm and became the center of its implementation in Crimea. The project is actually very complex because it involves all levels of education and can only work where there is close interaction and communication at all levels. This work is very significant for students, since already during their studies the students can become part of the real process, see how it was and how it became. They can definitely highlight this experience of participating in a federal project in their future resume,” noted Olga Petrova.
At the final defense of design projects created as part of the “Dream School” program of capital repairs and modernization of school systems, three presentations were presented and student reports were heard. After discussing the projects, the results were summed up and awards were presented to the students — team members, as well as to the teaching staff — team curators.
This project provided an opportunity to move from words to action. The guys tried themselves in real professional activities with great social significance. We are a university that implements a service-learning pedagogical approach. The Dream School project is probably the most successful service learning experience. This is an incredible experience both for the guys and for us, so we are ready to continue working on the project and introduce a pedagogical approach,” said the vice-rector for educational and methodological activities of KFU. V. I. Vernadsky Natalya Karmazina.
The “Dream School” project started in 2022. For the second year now, it has been implemented with the support of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation. The project is aimed at improving the quality of the school environment by involving students from Russian universities studying in the areas of Architecture and Design in the development of design projects for school spaces. Based on the results of the project, a bank of the best student ideas and solutions for modernizing school spaces will be formed.
