KFU won a grant for the implementation of an archaeological project

Krympress reports:

The employees of the Crimean Federal University became the winners of the competition “Conducting research by scientific groups under the guidance of young scientists” of the presidential research project. The support of the Russian Scientific Fund received the archaeological project “Elements of the System. Color processing of the eastern Crimea in the ancient era: Interdisciplinary research. » The grant is designed for three years.

A qualitatively new independent research parameter will be introduced into scientific circulation — the composition of the alloy of objects. It will help in solving important problems of the socio-economic and political history of the Eastern Taurica related to the era of the formation and development of the first states. We will explore products from closed complexes and add them to the Database of the Ancient Layers of Crimea. This will significantly expand our idea of the material culture, trade and production of both urban and rural centers of the eastern part of the peninsula,-quoted the press service of the university of the project manager and an employee of the Research Center for the History and Archeology of Crimea KFU Anna Antipenko.

According to her, during the study, centers of production of metal tools, weapons, horse harnesses, home utensils, jewelry and prestige items will be identified, and technologies for their manufacture were studied.

The main result of the work will be a detailed picture of the development and interaction of production technologies, the alloys, social and commercial ties of the Greco-Warbourinist population of the Eastern Crimea of the entire period of the ancient era.

In the study, we use an X-ray and fluorescent analysis. By the end of the first year, we plan to receive information about the composition of alloys of metal objects from the collection of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve and the collection of the Naples Scythian Museum-Reserve. In addition, we will analyze the finds from burial grounds in the Crimean Sea of Azov, as well as from the Western border of the Bosporus, in particular from the tracts of the Besh-Oba and Kubalach— notes Anna Antipenko.

The results of the study will receive practical use in the restoration of ancient products, examination of metal objects, determining the conditions of museum storage, as well as to clarify the exact quantitative content of precious metals in things from funds and special guards.
