The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol are investigating a criminal case against a technical audit engineer of the Simferopol Distribution Zone of the State Unitary Enterprise of the Republic of Crimea «Krymenergo». The official was charged with receiving a bribe through an intermediary on an especially large scale (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). His acquaintance is charged with mediation in bribery on an especially large scale (Part 4 of Article 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The investigative department for the Kyiv district of the city of Simferopol established that an entrepreneur he knew had approached the engineer with a request to reduce the time required for technological connection to the power grid of a real estate property — a plant for the production of bottled water, for which an employee of Krymenergo demanded «gratitude» from him.
One day in February, the intermediary made an appointment at a cafe on Franco Boulevard, where he received 1 million 800 thousand rubles from the businessman for subsequent transfer to the engineer— reported in Sledkom.
The illegal activities of the Krymenergo employee and his acquaintance were identified and suppressed by employees of the republican departments of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. With the forceful support of the special forces of the Russian Guard, the accomplices were detained.
Searches were carried out at the place of residence and work of the defendants, money and technical equipment, and documentation of interest to the investigation were confiscated.
The mediator fully admitted his guilt, reporting the circumstances of the crime committed and the events preceding it,” the Investigative Committee clarified.
Currently, work continues to collect and consolidate the evidence base, appropriate examinations have been appointed, and other possible illegal activities of the accused are being established.
