Today, the Control and Rescue Service of Crimea (CCS) celebrates its 60th anniversary. Its employees conducted hundreds of rescue operations in the mountains, successfully coping with tasks of varying complexity.
The origins of the KSS go back to the 1970s, when planned tourism began to actively develop on the peninsula, as well as throughout the country at that time. In Crimea, the number of people who came to us on vouchers and went to the mountains along certain routes increased significantly. In this regard, there is a need for specialists who would ensure the safety of these people. Thus, in 1964, the KSS was created under the Crimean Regional Tourism Council. Its main tasks were to carry out prevention, ensure safety and provide assistance to organized and amateur groups of tourists.
Control and rescue teams were organized in Simferopol, Alushta, Bakhchisarai and Sudak, and posts at Ai-Petri, Angara Pass, Karabi-yayla and Kizil-Koba.
The control and rescue service united not just professionals in their field, but all those who could not imagine their life without mountains: rock climbers, climbers, speleologists, as well as social activists. All these people, sparing no effort, and sometimes even putting their lives in danger, were always ready to come to the rescue of those who found themselves in a difficult situation.
According to the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea Sergei Sadakliev, over these many years they have saved dozens of lives in the mountains! Repeatedly took part in the most difficult rescue operations. For example, in 2013, KSS employees carried out a 12-hour rescue operation in the Monastyr-Chokrak cave, where, during the descent of 4 speleologists, a car they had left outside rolled down. In addition, they have repeatedly participated, together with the Ministry of Emergency Situations, in extinguishing forest fires that broke out in hard-to-reach areas.
After the reunification of Crimea with Russia in 2015, the Crimean Republican Emergency Rescue Service “CRIMEA-SPAS” was created on the peninsula. The bulk of the rescuers who worked at KSS moved here, and with them all the accumulated many years of valuable experience, which they are actively passing on to young employees today.
The employees of the Control and Rescue Service made a huge contribution to the development of rescue work on the peninsula. For you, this is not just a job, but an integral part of life. Because not everyone can devote themselves to saving people. We are proud that you continue to work in the ranks of “CRIMEA-SPAS”, training young rescuers, said Sergei Sadakliev. — Congratulations on your 60th anniversary of formation!
