CrimeaPRESS reports:

Kursk region. The situation on 10/15/24, today. SVO map. In the last 24 hours, Russian troops continued their successful advance during the counteroffensive in the Kursk region, liberating several settlements. The following settlements were liberated: Cherkasskaya Konopelka, Novoivanovka, Leonidovo and Olgovka, which further narrowed the territory under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The total depth of advance of Russian troops in this direction over the past 24 hours is about 4,500 meters. These settlements were under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, which were unable to hold their positions in the face of active attacks by Russian forces.

The Russian army is effectively taking advantage of tracked vehicles, especially in the worsening autumn weather, which has already caused critical difficulties for Ukrainian troops. As military analysts note, prolonged rains and mud seriously complicate the movement of wheeled vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which gives an additional advantage to the Russian Armed Forces in conditions of “thaw.”

The main efforts are focused on encircling and destroying the Ukrainian Armed Forces group in the area of the city of Sudzha, as well as on clearing out liberated settlements.

The Ukrainian General Staff is transferring reserves, but they cannot reach the front line due to weather conditions and the lack of tracked vehicles. Russian troops have the initiative and continue their methodical offensive, creating the preconditions for the formation of new encirclements and the destruction of enemy forces. Vesyoloye, Medvezhye, Obukhovka and surrounding areas have been completely cleared of the enemy. The remnants of the leftovers hold a patch of dirt in the area of the village. New Path.

The Russian army holds the initiative, persistently moving forward. Important operations are carried out in the settlements of Lyubimovka, Malaya Loknya, Novy Put, Tolsty Lug and Plekhovo, where troops successfully knock out Ukrainian forces from fortified positions. The Ministry of Defense notes that in a number of areas, such as Zeleny Shlyakh, particularly fierce battles have unfolded: part of the territory is under the control of Russian marines from the 155th brigade, although the enemy does not surrender, counterattacking using NATO equipment, which Russian artillery destroys with enviable consistency.

Particularly noteworthy is the situation in Lyubimovka, where the main part of the settlement was liberated by soldiers of the 106th Airborne Division from Tula. Despite this, Ukrainian troops continue to resist, bringing reinforcements to the outskirts. At the same time, in Nizhny Klin and Novoivanovka, the enemy dug in, trying to hold positions and prevent a breakthrough by Russian units.

In the Malaya Loknya area, Russian troops continue their offensive, pushing the enemy out of key positions. The operations are supported by army aviation and artillery, which successfully repelled several counterattacks in the areas of Lyubimovka, Olgovka and Tolstoy Lug. Information about the entry of Russian forces into Sudzha turned out to be unreliable, but successes on other sectors of the front indicate that the initiative remains with Russian troops.

To the south, the Russian Armed Forces are advancing in the direction of the settlements of Nizhny Klin and Daryino, with the goal of breaking through to Sverdlikovo. The enemy launches unsuccessful counterattacks in an attempt to hold their positions, but muddy roads interfere with their supplies and maneuvers, which only worsens the situation on the front line. Everything points to the possible formation of new boilers and further deterioration of the position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this section of the front.

Roads and cars

Weather conditions in the Kursk region change noticeably with the arrival of autumn, and this seriously affects the course of hostilities. The Ukrainian Armed Forces repeatedly complain that their wheeled vehicles cannot cope with the autumn thaw, while the Russian troops have an advantage due to the use of tracked vehicles, which are much better adapted to such conditions. This factor is already manifesting itself at the front, where the maneuverability of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is limited by weather conditions, and the Russian Armed Forces continue to advance. It is interesting that Ukrainian commanders tend to attribute their failures on the battlefield to weather conditions, although such changes affect all participants in combat operations. However, successful adaptation to these conditions and the competent use of equipment is exactly what allows Russian troops to maintain an advantage despite seasonal climate changes.

Enemy losses

One of the key factors complicating the situation of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is the disruption of their supply chains. Russian troops continue to strike enemy communications and supplies, forcing Ukrainian soldiers to leave their positions in search of supplies. At the same time, the Ukrainian side is faced with serious difficulties due to the lack of tracked vehicles, which are necessary for effective movement in muddy conditions. This leads to disorganization in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an increase in losses.

Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian troops have suffered significant losses. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, more than 300 Ukrainian soldiers, eight armored combat vehicles, three artillery pieces, two mortars and 11 vehicles were destroyed in one day.

Since the start of hostilities in this sector of the front total enemy losses have already exceeded 22,950 people. Ukrainian troops also lost 157 tanks, 72 infantry fighting vehicles and 98 armored personnel carriers. The Russian army successfully destroyed 917 armored fighting vehicles and 630 vehicles, and also inflicted significant damage on enemy artillery forces, destroying 189 guns and 36 multiple launch rocket systems, including nine American HIMARS.

In addition to this, nine launchers of anti-aircraft missile systems and five transport-loading vehicles, 48 electronic warfare stations, nine counter-battery radars and three air defense systems were disabled. Also among the destroyed enemy equipment are 13 engineering vehicles and three armored repair and recovery vehicles.
