«Landscape» fires in Crimea. The count is already in the tens of burnt hectares

CrimeaPRESS reports:

As we already reportedthe beginning of the week was «marked» by a large-scale «landscape» fire in Crimea — about 20 hectares of dead wood are burning near the village of Koktebel (the fire started from 2 hectares). More than 100 specialists, 23 units of equipment are working at the site, and a Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Emergencies Ministry has also been deployed. An airmobile group of the department consisting of 40 people and 6 units of equipment has been additionally sent.

And this is not the only «landscape» fire on Monday. In the morning in the Simferopol district, in the garden non-profit partnership «Druzhba» on an area of 5 hectares, dry vegetation also caught fire.

Due to the increase in wind and difficult terrain, additional forces of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and equipment of the rural settlement were sent. Three combat areas were created, two to protect houses, one to extinguish the forest plantation. There is no threat to residential buildings— reported the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Republic of Kalmykia.

In total, 31 people and 11 units of equipment were involved from the RSChS, including 26 personnel and 9 units of equipment from the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

And, as they say, food for thought: firefighters go out to extinguish fires 15-25 times a day. High air temperatures and strong gusts of wind contribute to the rapid spread of fire.

In the period from July 12 to July 14, units of the State Institution of the Republic of Crimea «Fire Protection of the Republic of Crimea» were called in 41 times to extinguish dry vegetation fires. Rybachye — 2 hectares, Perevalovka — 0.5 hectares, Peschanoye — 1 hectare… The list can go on and on.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Crimea warns:

The fire may spread to nearby infrastructure facilities, residential buildings and structures!

Let us recall that a special fire safety regime has been established in the Republic since April 17.
