What law enforcement officers are warning about.
Crimean police are launching a pilot project to warn citizens about the most common remote fraud schemes.
Over the past year, 3,475 citizens became victims of remote scammers. This year, 742 Crimeans have already contacted the police. Over the past 24 hours alone, 20 cases of remote fraud were registered in Crimea, of which about 3 million rubles were transferred to the account of the scammers by an accountant of a construction organization in the Simferopol region, being confident that she was paying for the goods ordered by the company— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The Crimean police are constantly fighting remote fraud. In order to prevent this type of crime, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea, together with the Public Council under the ministry, launched a pilot project to inform citizens by installing a tall figure of a police officer.
A full-length model of a police officer with an information sign has already been installed at ATMs in several shopping centers in Simferopol.
The Crimean police once again urges citizens to be vigilant, double-check information, and not talk to strangers on the phone.
