Liquidation of a landfill and compensation for damage in the amount of more than 53.7 million rubles — a “garbage” case in Sevastopol

The Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office checked compliance with legislative requirements in the field of management of industrial and consumer waste.

During an inspection on a plot of land in the area of ​​the gardening partnership «Vagonnik», at the turn of Monastyrskoye Highway in Sevastopol, an unauthorized landfill with an area of ​​over 1.6 thousand square meters was identified. m. The territory on which it is located belongs to the lands of the city. In cooperation with the Department of Municipal Affairs and using special software, it was established that the delivery and unloading of construction waste to this site was carried out by a commercial organization providing transport services. Her illegal actions caused damage to the soil amounting to more than 53.7 million rubles. In this regard, the Sevastopol Interdistrict Environmental Prosecutor’s Office sent a statement of claim to the Vakhitovsky District Court of Kazan imposing on this legal entity the obligation to clear the land from construction waste and compensate for damage caused to the soil,” reported the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.

The prosecutor’s claim was satisfied. After the court decision enters into legal force, the prosecutor’s office will monitor its implementation.
