«Mac»: Another «agronomist» detained in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, police officers are holding a local resident accountable for illegal possession of marijuana, cultivation of hemp and drug use.

During the «Poppy» operational and preventive measure, officers of the Drug Control Department of the OMVD of Russia for the Gagarinsky District, together with colleagues from the Drug Control Department of the UMVD of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, revealed the fact of illegal storage of marijuana and cultivation of plants containing narcotic substances. During the inspection of the apartment of a 34-year-old local resident, police officers discovered an equipped greenhouse in which 11 bushes were growing using special systems to maintain favorable conditions. Law enforcement officers also seized dry parts of the plant with a characteristic odor. According to the study conducted by forensic experts of the Forensic Center of the UMVD, what was found in the greenhouse is a cultivated plant — hemp, and the dried parts of plant origin are marijuana, weighing more than 40 grams.— the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Sevastopol announced the details of the case.

The owner of the illegal greenhouse said he was growing drug-containing bushes for personal use. Police officers seized the illegal crop, marijuana, and equipment used for illegal purposes.

A criminal case was opened against the man for illegal possession of drugs under Part 1 of Article 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to three years. In addition, administrative materials were drawn up under Article 10.5.1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation «Illegal cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances or their precursors» and under Part 1 of Article 6.9 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation «Consumption of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances without a doctor’s prescription or new potentially dangerous psychoactive substances». The sanction of the articles provides for administrative arrest for a term of up to 15 days.
