CrimeaPRESS reports:

The All-Russian National Research Institute of Viticulture and Winemaking «Magarach» of the Russian Academy of Sciences will replant in the village of Otradnoye an almost 200-year-old ampelographic collection of seedlings of more than 4 thousand grape varieties, said TASS Director of the Institute Vladimir Likhovskoy.

We are currently establishing an ampelographic collection in Otradnoye. We have already established 8 hectares, raised a deep plantation. We have a collection of 4.2 thousand varieties, the first one was established in 1828, so it needs to be grafted and replanted. Of these, Russian: 72 Crimean aboriginal varieties, about 75 Dagestan and 54 Don. This is the entire Russian collection, all Russian aboriginals. We consider this a national treasure.— the message says.

The collection, which initially numbered 300 samples, was replenished annually. Among the varieties are foreign ones: from France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Georgia, Armenia and other countries of the world. As specified by the press service of the institute, starting from the end of the 1960s and until 1976, the collection was re-mortgaged in the village of Vilino, Bakhchisaray district, to a separate division of the Magarach institute.
