Major repairs are underway at Sapun Mountain in Sevastopol

Almost 54 million rubles were allocated to preserve the Sapun Mountains memorial complex, which was renovated a couple of years ago.
The Museum-Reserve of the Heroic Defense and Liberation of Sevastopol» signed a contract with the company «Ravelin» for the preservation of the cultural heritage site: «The Ensemble of the Memorial Complex «Sapun-Gora», 1944-1974″ in order to carry out major repairs of buildings and other real estate objects, including those included in the networks and systems of engineering and technical support. The tender for the performance of works is posted on the public procurement website. According to the contract and design documentation, also prepared by Ravelin LLC, the Sapun-Gora museum complex will be equipped with a fence; a set of works to protect the walls of the building from water — waterproofing of the external walls of the diorama building; installation of cable ducts with the installation of street boards; installation and connection of the electrical panel in the building of the Diorama «Storming of Sapun-Gora on May 7, 1944» to power electrical equipment; installation of fire reservoirs; restoration of the improvement of the territory, — reports the Sevastopolskaya Gazeta.
The start date of the work is not yet finalized: «not earlier than the date of receipt of permission to perform work on the preservation of cultural heritage sites, issued by the relevant body for the protection of cultural heritage sites.» The end is planned no later than August 31, 2025.
As noted in the contract, construction and installation work is being carried out on the instructions of the Department of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation for the Southern and North Caucasian Federal Districts.
The reconstruction of the memorial complex on Sapun Mountain began in late 2019. The first part was completed by May 9, 2020. It was then announced that three alleys had been repaired and utility lines had been re-laid. A heating main, water supply, and sewerage system were connected to the Diorama building. Five monuments — cultural heritage sites — were restored. During the second stage of the reconstruction, the Diorama building itself was restored and the adjacent territory was repaired. In 2023, the restoration of the Diorama painting was completed.
