The expedition of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) will develop a structure for the development of a recreational complex, create maps of beach areas and assess the marketing potential of the Azov regions. This was reported by TASS Head of the Crimean regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society Gennady Samokhin.

Previously reportedthat scientists from the Vernadsky Crimean Federal University (KFU) and the Russian Geographical Society set off on a comprehensive Azov expedition to study the current state of tourism in the Azov region, in particular the coast of Crimea, the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

Based on the results of the expedition, a development structure for the tourist and recreational complex of the coastal zone of the Sea of ​​Azov, recreational zoning, and a number of concepts will be proposed. One of them will concern the strategic development of recreation and tourism, the second is devoted to the marketing of the Azov regions. In particular, maps of beach areas will be created, which will include the length, area, height of the coast, width of the water area, capacity of the beachesSamokhin said.

In addition, according to him, a forecast will be given for the development of territories for the period up to 2035 in terms of tourist flow, total number of rooms, total capacity of the territory, as well as average tourist expenses for a trip with accommodation, food, excursions, purchase of souvenirs, etc.

Samokhin noted that a comprehensive survey of the Azov Sea coast’s potential for tourism and recreation development is being conducted for the first time since it became an inland sea of ​​Russia. «The potential is very high. It is possible to develop historical, archaeological tourism, wine tours and much more,» he emphasized.

The expedition is long, the entire route is over 3,500 km. 250 observation points will be surveyed, including populated areas, beaches, and the coastline.
