March 16 — Evtropiev day. There is a bear — not to go to the forest!
Krympress reports:
On March 16, the Church honors the memory of the holy martyr Evtropy of the Amasia. He lived at the turn of the third and fourth centuries. During the persecution of Christians, he defended faith, for which he paid with his brother — he was crucified.
Our ancestors in Evtropievs read the sun day and called for it to protect the fields and crops from diseases, frosts and pests. We were sure: the Svetilo hears those who respect him, and will certainly be merciful.
And the people also believed that now the bear wakes up and is chosen from the den. Therefore, going to the forest on March 16 was strictly forbidden.
As for the weather, then:
- The starlings flew — there will be a rich crown of grain.
- Tits are chirping loudly — to heat. They twist sadly and lingering — there will still be frosts.
- Bullfins are singing under the window — to warming. They sit in flocks in the snow — to snowfalls.
- At noon in the south screamed a raven — it will get warmer soon. If it croaks on the north side, the cold is coming.
- Raven in the snow swim — by clear weather.
- All birds flew — to heat.
- The wagtails arrived — to the ice drift.
- Geese fly high — to a large flood. They fly low — there will be little water.
- The sun hid — the rain will go.
