March 18 — «Conon calls to the garden»

March 18 — «Conon calls to the garden»

Krympress reports:

On the day of Conon-Grader, they said-«Conon calls to the garden.» They began to dig gardens and took out manure on them. We were sure: such things show respect for the owner of the day and the patron saint of the gardeners, for which, in turn, he will certainly thank a good harvest.

And in Rus’ it was believed that from this day “matinees” (spring frosts) that they happen before sunrise — one will be easier than the other. And there will be only forty of them.

In addition, our ancestors remembered the dead at the Conon-Gorodar. They also prayed for the missing, hoping that the sky would hear the request and loved ones would return home.

The church honors the memory of Conon-Grader, who lived in the Pamphilian city of Manda, as a martyr. He was engaged in the cultivation of gardens, which is why he received his nickname. In the ancient church month, this saint is also called a sufferer. During the persecution of Christians, he was brutally executed for his faith.

As for the weather, then:

  • Clear and warm weather — the summer will be warm or moderately hot. There will be no hail.
  • Rooks nesting — in three weeks you can start sowing work.
  • Blags arrived — there will be warm spring.
  • The first snowdrops in the forest appeared — a sign for the fact that you can start arable land.
  • On the gradar, day with night, the winter ends.
Name days on March 18 note: Adrian, George, Ivan, Kirill, Konstantin, Mark, Fedor, David, Iraid and Conan.
