Massandra, Sevastopol and Koktebel are in the top destinations for fine red wines

CrimeaPRESS reports:

August 28th is Red Wine Day. Experts confirm that a small amount of this wine can improve blood composition, the likelihood of a heart attack, and the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract. It removes toxins from the body, prevents the development of inflammatory processes, slows down aging. Naturally, moderation should be observed in the use. In some regions of Russia, the history of grape cultivation can be thousands of years old. In others, this story is not so long, but no less glorious.

In honor of the significant date, the Russian service for booking vacation rentals TVIL.RU conducted a survey on social networks: where did they taste the most interesting red wine? And in the first place was Massandra, in the second — Sevastopol, and in the third — Anapa.

1. The wines of Massandra were chosen by 32% of those who voted. The history of winemaking in this wonderful place is inextricably linked with the name of Mikhail Semenovich Vorontsov, the governor of Novorossia. The small distillery he purchased adapted vines from Italy and France.

2. In second place is Sevastopol, this is the choice of 21% of subscribers. Big Sevastopol is a lot of wine-growing regions. Zolotaya Balka, Inkerman, Perovskikh Manor, Mangup Manor — all these names are well known to connoisseurs of good wine.

3. In third place is Anapa, which was chosen by 16% of the voting participants. Archaeologists say that wine was made here many years before our era. Amphorae with wine were a kind of currency, exchanged for bread.

4. Gelendzhik collected 15% of the vote. Today, the red wines of this region, which has long become the center of enotourism, have already won medals at many international exhibitions.

5. 14% of voters voted for Taman. The climate on the Taman Peninsula is mild and warm, perfect for viticulture. The wines of Taman have long been known to connoisseurs, including the famous Chateau Taman brand.

6. Koktebel was chosen by 12% of subscribers. Many people know the factory of vintage wines «Koktebel» — an enterprise with a full production cycle. The plant has its own vineyards located at different altitudes above sea level, more than 25 grape varieties are grown here.

7. Derbent was chosen by 10% of all voters. Dagestan is one of the oldest wine-producing regions in Russia: the most ancient vines appeared in the vicinity of the city of Derbent almost two thousand years ago.

8. Vladikavkaz received 6% of the vote. Here in the vicinity, too, there are very rich traditions of winemaking, left over from Roman times and renewed in the eighteenth century.

9. Novorossiysk was chosen by 4% of those who voted. Enotourism really plays a huge role in the development of the region. Wineries tend to welcome tourists — last year they received almost 200 thousand people.

10. Don Valley collected 2% of the vote. The total area of vineyards on the Don exceeds 5 thousand hectares. The climate here is difficult for winemaking, but in recent years, the Don has confirmed the status of one of the most important regions of Russian winemaking.
