Today, the ophthalmological center provides specialized medical care not only to Crimeans, but also to residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Every year, the center’s specialists provide assistance to thousands of patients and perform hundreds of high-tech operations. Medical Ophthalmological Center of the Russian Clinical Hospital named after. N. A. Semashko was created in 1974. Over its half-century history, doctors whose names are known not only in Crimea, but also far beyond its borders have worked and continue to work in the ophthalmological center. Today the center’s staff consists of 111 specialists. Every day, thanks to the well-coordinated work of the team, more than two hundred patients receive help at the center.
The Medical Ophthalmological Center is one of the clinical bases of the Department of Ophthalmology of the Order of the Red Banner of Labor of the Medical Institute named after. Georgievsky KFU named after. V. I. Vernadsky. Every year, students from the medical, pediatric, dental, and international faculties are trained at the center. Resident doctors are actively involved in medical and diagnostic work, experienced doctors daily share invaluable experience and knowledge with the younger generation.
The structure of the center includes two inpatient departments with 40 beds each, a day hospital with 16 beds, working in two shifts, an emergency department with a 24-hour emergency room, as well as a consultation and outpatient department with functional diagnostic rooms.
In 2023, a major renovation was completed at the institution, the center is equipped with modern equipment. Experts continue to introduce new diagnostic and treatment methods.
The development of new directions is planned in the near future. Thus, today the relevance of reconstructive surgery is increasing, and therefore the center will implement the direction of keratoplasty.
