From April 8 to April 20 and from April 22 to May 7, new streams of the educational program “Church Art: Creating the Interior of a Church-Chapel” will start at the Academy of Creative Industries “Meganom” (project “Tavrida.ART” from Rosmolodezh). Registration is open, respectively, until March 13 and March 27 inclusive on website art cluster «Tavrida» and in the application «Meganome» in VK.
A long-term educational program continues at the Meganom Academy, where its participants — artists, restorers, icon painters, mosaicists and muralists — are working on a project for the interior decoration of the church-chapel in the name of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious, which is being built at the foot of Mount Meganom.
New participants in the program will continue the work of the previous ones. At the moment, projects have already been developed for the external decoration of the temple and landscaping of the territory, options for painting the St. John the Baptist chapel, a solution for mosaic floor paving, a proposal for ceramic and mosaic design of the font, as well as options for the decorative design of the western portal of the temple-chapel. In addition, the participants proposed options for painting the ceiling, dome and drum, and solutions for decorating stained glass windows. Sketches of the general painting of the interior walls of the temple, individual elements of sketches with scenes from the life of St. St. George the Victorious, options for color schemes, mosaic design of the baptistery and ornaments for the iconostasis. A 3D model of the temple was also developed and its layout was created with general painting of the internal walls.
The practical part of the program will be diluted with theory, where young artists will be told about the basics of Orthodox church construction, architecture, canonical requirements and important aspects in the design of an Orthodox church.
The eighth and ninth educational modules of the program “Church art: creating the interior decoration of a temple-chapel” will be held from April 8 to 20 and from April 22 to May 7 in Crimea at the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries. Participation is free. You can apply until March 13 for the eighth and until March 27 for the ninth stream in the application «Meganome» on VK and on the website art cluster «Tavrida»
The curator of the program is Maria-Nicole Selivanova, head of the Tavrida art park, artist-restorer of easel and monumental painting.
Construction of a church-chapel in the name of St. The Great Martyr St. George the Victorious is being celebrated in Crimea, at the foot of Mount Meganom. The investment project is being implemented by philanthropist and temple builder Alexei Kakhidze with the support of Tavrida.ART and the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. This construction is the first experience of the Tavrida art cluster in creating religious buildings.
