Meganom Academy announces a new enrollment for the educational program for icon painters

From February 5 to 18 and from February 19 to 27, the Academy of Creative Industries “Meganom” (project “Tavrida.ART”) will host a new stream of educational program on creating the interior decoration of a temple-chapel. Artists, icon painters, restorers, mosaicists and muralists are invited to participate in the program. Registration is open until January 20 at website art cluster «Tavrida» and in the application «Meganome» in VK.

In Crimea, at the Meganom Academy, an educational program has been taking place for the third month, the participants of which — young artists and icon painters — are working on a project for the interior decoration of the church-chapel in the name of St. Great Martyr George the Victorious, which is being built in Kapsel Bay.

The program is divided into modules. Each new group of participants continues and complements the work of the previous ones. To date, sketches have already been created for the general painting of the interior walls of the temple, individual elements of sketches with scenes from the life of St. St. George the Victorious, options for color schemes, mosaic design of the baptistery and ornaments for the iconostasis. A 3D model of the temple was also developed and its layout was created with general painting of the internal walls.

In February, participants in the next module will continue this work. In addition to the practical part, they will also study theory: they will consider the basics of Orthodox church construction, architecture, canonical requirements and key aspects in the design of an Orthodox church. Listeners will enjoy lectures on the history of icon painting and Orthodoxy in Russia, meetings with prominent representatives of church art and a trip to the holy places of Crimea.

The fourth and fifth educational modules of the program on creating the interior decoration of the church-chapel will be held from February 5 to 18 and With February 19 to 27 in Crimea at the Meganom Academy of Creative Industries. Temple-chapel in the name of St. The Great Martyr George the Victorious in Kapsel Bay is the first experience of the Tavrida art cluster in the construction of religious buildings. The investment project is being implemented by philanthropist and temple builder Alexei Kakhidze with the support of Tavrida and the Synodal Department for Youth Affairs of the Russian Orthodox Church. In the future, when investment proposals are received, cultural objects of other Russian religions may appear on the territory of the art cluster.

Academy of Creative Industries «Meganom» — this is a conceptually new educational environment for young representatives of culture, art and creative industries, the core of the Tavrida art cluster (a project of Rosmolodezh). The year-round educational center allows specialists to expand their knowledge and professional competencies under the supervision of recognized leaders in the field and take part in interactive projects prepared in collaboration with leading institutions and corporate partners.
