CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today, in the Glory Square, the remains of the Soviet army soldier Mikhail Ivanovich Ordov, who fell in the battles for Kerch during the Great Patriotic War, were handed over to his relatives. The portal reports this KERCH.COM.RU.
At the time of his death, the Red Army soldier was 21 years old. The military archive contains information that Mikhail Ivanovich Ordov served in the 899th engineer battalion with the rank of junior sergeant.
The remains of Mikhail Ordov were found in Kerch Geroevka, when during winter storms the sea exposed a mass grave — in a 2×3 pit, 2 meters deep, there were the remains of 11 people. Local residents saw bones on the beach and informed the specialists of the Kerch detachment of the Crimean Rubezh PA of the DOSAAF of Russia of the Republic of Crimea. Searchers were able to identify the remains of Mikhail Ordov from the medal “For Military Merit” found in the grave.
There are many significant coincidences in the history of the search: the soldier was found and identified exactly 80 years after his death, on the Day of the Unknown Soldier, on the eve of Hero of the Fatherland Day; The Eltigen landing force landed in Geroevka in 1943; the searcher who found the remains, Viktor Gustom, turned 43 the day before.writes the publication.
As soon as the name of the recipient of the medal “For Military Merit” became known, the search for relatives was completed in just 24 hours—this happens extremely rarely.
Mikhail Ordov’s relatives arrived from the Smolensk region, along with the commander of the Fakel search party. The capsule will depart from the Glory Square in the Hero City of Kerch for burial at the Field of Glory in the city of Pochinok. The memory of the soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War was honored with a minute of silence and laying flowers at the Eternal Flame.
