Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev presented a new medal «Sevastopol Family» at a staff meeting of the Sevastopol Government. It was established by order of the city’s head specifically for the Year of the Family.
The front side of the medal features an image of a family. In the background is an image of the Grafskaya Wharf with the Russian flag fluttering in the wind. The back side of the medal features a quote from the president in the center: «Family is love, happiness, the joy of motherhood and fatherhood.»
Traditionally, on July 8, we award families with the federal medal «For Love and Fidelity». This medal was established by the Organizing Committee of the All-Russian holiday «Day of Family, Love and Fidelity» for couples who have lived together for more than 25 years. The competition committee said that this year an unprecedented number of applications were received from Sevastopol — 523! And therefore, 170 medals were allocated to our city — much more than in previous years. We will definitely award them all. And I, in turn, decided that all couples who submitted their applications for participation in the competition, but for various reasons did not receive a federal award this year, will definitely receive a regional award— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Mikhail Razvozhaev.
He expressed confidence that Sevastopol residents will keep the medal in their family archives and pass it on to their children.
The head of the city noted that due to the record number of participants, it is impossible to present all the medals in one day. Therefore, the awards ceremonies began today at the Sevastopol Center for Culture and Arts, and in the future, federal and regional awards will be presented at district events.
