More assistants of remote swindlers were detained in Crimea — on their “account” the theft of more than 1 million rubles
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Crimea, together with colleagues from territorial internal affairs bodies, detained three participants in the remote fraud scheme “Your relative got into an accident.”
Earlier, six citizens aged 74 to 76 years old, who became victims of telephone scammers, contacted the duty stations of the police departments of Feodosia, Saki, Sovetsky, Kirov, Krasnogvardeisky and Simferopol districts. According to the victims, they received phone calls on their mobile phones from unknown persons who introduced themselves as their relatives. They all acted according to the same scheme: they informed pensioners that it was their fault that an accident had occurred, and they urgently needed money so as not to bring the proceedings to court. Misled by elderly residents of the peninsula, they cashed out their savings and, following the instructions of strangers, handed over the cash to the messenger. The total amount of damage amounted to more than 1 million 150 thousand rubles— reported the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.
As a result of operational search activities, detectives were on the trail of criminal messengers, and local residents were detained.
Thus, a 31-year-old resident of Yalta took 100 thousand rubles from a 76-year-old grandmother from the Saki district.
Two more couriers — 25 and 32-year-old residents of Simferopol, following the instructions of their “employers”, stole more than 1 million rubles from elderly citizens from the city of Feodosia, Sovetsky, Kirovsky, Krasnogvardeisky and Simferopol districts.
For their work, the messengers kept about 10% of the amount they spent on personal needs. The criminals transferred the stolen cash to the account specified by the curators.
Based on these facts, criminal cases were initiated on the grounds of a crime under Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Currently, the defendants have been given preventive measures in the form of a written undertaking not to leave the place, house arrest and detention.
Police officers carry out a set of operational search activities and investigative actions aimed at identifying and detaining other persons involved in committing crimes.
Crimean police appeal to citizens!
If you have suffered from the actions of these persons or have information about their commission of illegal acts, immediately report to the police department at your place of residence or by calling 102.
