More than 500 plants planted in Sevastopol as part of landfill reclamation at Suzdal Heights

The regional project «Clean Country» of the national project «Ecology» is being implemented on the territory of Sevastopol. Within its framework, the liquidation of an unauthorized dump at the Suzdal Heights continues. Today I checked the progress of work at the facility. O. Deputy Governor Yevgeny Gorlov.

At the moment, the technical stage of reclamation has been fully completed, and the biological stage is also underway — plants have been planted that are now being serviced. Integrated irrigation is carried out — both by drip and irrigation in the evening. Completion of work is scheduled for November this year, we will continue to work with the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, this year we are reclaiming two landfills under the national project — at the Suzdal Heights and in Trenzina Balka. The measurements, which were carried out by the Center for Laboratory Analysis and Technical Measurements in the Southern Federal District, showed that no excess of pollutant substances in the soil was found. Another section of Sevastopol was cleared of damaging elements, debris— quotes the press service of the Government of Sevastopol Evgeny Gorlov.

The first, technical, stage of the reclamation of the facility included the collection of solid domestic waste and construction waste, sanitary felling of oppressed and weakened trees, covering the area of ​​the site with the content of chemicals in the soil with clean soil.

As part of the second, biological, stage of reclamation, the economic and ecological value of the land was restored, landscaping was carried out — perennial grasses were sown and 508 young plants were planted. Planting material characteristic of the area was used — common juniper, oriental hornbeam and downy oak. To date, work is underway to care for the lawn and green spaces.

As noted and. O. Deputy Governor, the contractor — the Biopartner company — has licenses for the movement of waste, specialized equipment, the necessary place for processing and sorting waste.

We picked up garbage everywhere, took out the waste that oppressed the trees, brought in fertile soil so that the planted trees would grow. Four people are constantly working at the facility, and depending on the types of work, up to 15 people are here. Two people constantly look after the trees, the main work is weeding and watering. We have a contract until the end of the year, and after the contract for another two years we will control the growth of trees, soil, take care of the trees and protect them so that they will please Sevastopol residents even in 20 years— emphasizes Kirill Borisov, CEO of Biopartner.

Recall that this year, within the framework of the national project «Ecology», landfills on the Suzdal Heights with an area of ​​7.4 hectares and in Trenzina Balka with an area of ​​2.3 hectares are being eliminated. These objects are included by the Ministry of Natural Resources in the register of places of accumulated environmental damage.
