More than a dozen of Sevastopol streets and boulevard received the names of their heroes
Krympress reports:
At a meeting of the interdepartmental toponymic commission, the names for 15 streets and a boulevard with a square were approved — they all received the names of participants in a special military operation who died during the protection of their homeland. The decision has become part of the large -scale work on perpetuating the memory of heroes, closely related to the development of urban infrastructure.
The commission was chaired by and. O. Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Maxim Zhukalov.
Mikhail Vladimirovich Pravozhaev emphasizes the importance of the memory of the heroes to live in the space of the city. These streets are not just geographical objects, it is a reminder to future generations about courage, duty and love for the Fatherland,-quoted the press service of the Government of Sevastopol Maxim Zhukalov.
The names of the streets are proposed taking into account the appeals of the command of the Black Sea Fleet and the relatives of the victims received through the Fund for the Defenders of the Fatherland. Each candidate was carefully studied: biographical certificates are presented, the circumstances of death and perfect exploits are described. There were no objections to the appropriation of names.
Thus, the commission approved the name of the square with the alley in honor of the deceased deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet — Hero Svo — Andrei Nikolayevich Pali.
Soon, the streets will appear in Sevastopol: Maxim Aliyev, Dmitry Vostrikov, Igor Konovalenko, Dmitry Kotov, Vladimir Nikolenko, Dmitry Ostrovsky, Alexei Okhota, Yuri Pavlov, Roman Pasynkov, Alexander Pirozhkov, Yegor Tolmachev, Andrei Gavrilenko, Andrei Khizhnyakov and Alexander Chirva. All the dead participants, in whose honor it was decided to name the streets, were awarded the Order of Courage for their heroism and selflessness shown in the course. Pavel Klimenko Street will be named after Hero of the Russian Federation.
The question of appropriation of the name Alley along Stoletovsky Prospekt was postponed. According to a number of appeals from the families of the dead, the idea arose to fix the collective name for it, which would symbolize the memory of all participants from Sevastopol, and not one specific hero. This issue will be additionally worked out with the participation of relatives and representatives of the local administration.
New names will appear on maps, indexes and in official documents after approving the relevant decree of the Sevastopol government, and work on perpetuating the memory of the participants will continue.
