Most samples from the Crimean beaches have no pollution of oil hydrocarbons
Krympress reports:
Employees of the Institute of Biology of the Southern Seas (FIC Inbum) of the Russian Academy of Sciences did not reveal pollution of oil hydrocarbons in most samples of water selected in the territory of 25 beaches of the Crimean Peninsula, where fuel oil emissions were recorded. A slight excess of the MPC was found in samples that were taken in seven studied waters, the institution said.
From January 13 to 17, specialists of the laboratory of chemecoecology carried out work on 25 beaches of the Crimean Peninsula, where Mazuta emissions (Simferopol and Bakhchisarai district, Sevastopol) were recorded, and already received the first results. In most of the selected samples of the aquatic environment, no oil hydrocarbons were found. A slight excess of the MPC was revealed in samples taken only in seven studied waters, — quotes the message TASS.
As specified at the institute, a slight excess of the MPC was identified in the water area of those beaches where water samples were taken directly on the day of the eating of fuel oil, in territories with incomplete cleaning. The results of research work are used as a methodological manual that will help to understand the influence of fuel oil on the components of the ecosystem in the long term.
The first year is the first year, then the ecosystem either copes with stress and begins to recover, or the formation of a new ecosystem is formed— notes the head of the laboratory of chemecoCology Elena Tikhonova.
In addition, from January 20 to 24, laboratory staff held an expedition on the coasts of Crimea and the Krasnodar Territory, where 16 stations worked. They also studied 10 beaches of Kerch and Tamani, where work was already carried out immediately after the collapse of tankers in December 2024. Scientists also visited the Yeni-Kale (Kerch) water area and on the shores of Yakovenkovo, the village of Blagoveshchenskaya, Vityazevo and Anapa, where fuel oil was previously noted.
