Motorcycle confiscated, freedom deprived — Sevastopol resident sentenced for drunk driving
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Agreeing with the opinion of the state prosecutor of the Gagarinsky District Prosecutor’s Office, the court issued a guilty verdict against the previously convicted 37-year-old resident of Sevastopol.
The court established that during the current year, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol stopped the illegal driving of a car and motorcycle by this man 5 times, while in January 2024 he was already deprived of the right to drive vehicles by the court. In all cases, the man refused the lawful demands of the police officers to undergo a medical examination to establish the fact of being intoxicated. A criminal case against the offender was opened by the investigation department of the OMVD of Russia for the Gagarinsky District of Sevastopol based on the materials of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol, — the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office reported.
In order to prevent the said citizen from committing crimes with more serious consequences, the state prosecutor in court chose a principled position on sentencing the defendant to a sentence of actual imprisonment.
The Gagarinsky District Court of Sevastopol issued a guilty verdict against the offender, sentencing him to 1 year of imprisonment in a strict regime penal colony with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to driving vehicles for 2 years and 6 months. The verdict has not entered into legal force.
The vehicle belonging to the convicted person, which was arrested during the preliminary investigation, was confiscated to the benefit of the state at the request of the state prosecutor.
