Museum «Chekhov and Crimea» presents a new exhibition project. At the dacha Omur

In an old mansion in the heart of Yalta, where the Chekhov and Crimea Museum is located, a new temporary exhibition “To admire him is a sign of good taste” will open. The statement of Somerset Maugham, an English writer and admirer of the talent of A.P. Chekhov, served as the title of the exhibition, which will tell about the personality of the great playwright and his perception of reality through the prism of the philosophical views and memoirs of his contemporaries, both in Russia and abroad.
The basis of the exposition will be artifacts from the stock collection of the Crimean Literary and Artistic Memorial Museum-Reserve, which includes the Chekhov and Crimea Museum. Among them are photographs and personal belongings of Anton Chekhov, unique documents and rare publications.
The opening of the new exhibition project will take place on June 30 at 12:00, admission to the event is free. After the opening, it will be possible to visit the exhibition until December 13, inclusive, according to the museum’s work schedule.
Reference: Museum «Chekhov and Crimea» on Kirov Street, 32 — an old mansion, erected in pseudo-Gothic style, owned by the Ilovaisky family. Dacha «Omyur» (translated from the Crimean Tatar — «Life»), was built in 1888 by architect Ovsyany.
