Museum-Reserve «Tauric Chersonesos» will closely cooperate with the Crimean Metropolis
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today in Simferopol, the signing of the Cooperation Agreement between the museum-reserve «Tauric Chersonese» and the Simferopol and Crimean diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) took place. The document was signed by the Head of the Crimean Metropolis, His Eminence Metropolitan Lazar of Simferopol and Crimea, and Elena Morozova, Director of the Federal State Budgetary Institution of Culture “State Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve Tauric Chersonesus”.
Tauric Chersonese is the place of baptism of Grand Duke Vladimir and the sacred center of Russia, where the spiritual heritage of our country is preserved and revived, traditions are strengthened and its cultural heritage is popularized. In this regard, it is especially important to develop fruitful and successful cooperation between the Museum-Reserve and the Crimean Metropolis, within the framework of which this agreement was signed today.
I am very glad that I had the honor to work in the stronghold of Christianity, in the sacred center of Russia — Tauric Chersonese. And I am extremely pleased that for the fifth year we have been working hand in hand with the Sevastopol Deanery. Thanks to our joint efforts and fruitful interaction, the cultural and Orthodox heritage of the country is popularized, classes are held with children and youth, helping to strengthen the primordial traditions of Russia— said the director of the museum-reserve Elena Morozova.
The head of the Crimean Metropolis, Metropolitan Lazarus, blessed Tauric Chersonesus for further successful development and expressed confidence that cooperation with the organization would continue for many more years:
History knows many different examples of the interaction of the Church with museum institutions. I am sure that we will be able to develop and enrich this experience, especially since Tauric Chersonesus has a sacred meaning for our country, is the cradle of Russian Orthodoxy.
Vladyka emphasized that a significant event had taken place today and expressed confidence that, through joint efforts, Tauric Chersonesus would become not only an archaeological, historical, but also a spiritual center for all our compatriots, including those living far from their homeland.
Following the signing of the Cooperation Agreement, the parties committed themselves to familiarize citizens (including children and youth) with the treasures of centuries-old Orthodox culture through joint events and educational projects, as well as television and radio broadcasting programs and their information support. An important point of the agreement is the preparation and holding of solemn events dedicated to significant dates in the history of the Russian state, the Russian Orthodox Church, including the Day of the Baptism of Rus’, the Days of Slavic Literature and Culture.
