Navy Day in Sevastopol
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Sevastopol hosted events dedicated to Navy Day. The celebration began with the laying of flowers at the Memorial Wall in memory of the heroic defense of Sevastopol in 1941-1942. Then a patriotic motor rally took place in the city. A motorcade of about 20 cars drove through the city and finished at the Alley of Heroes, where the participants laid flowers to the fallen Heroes of the special operation. The organizers were members of the Committee of Families of Soldiers of the Fatherland.
In the L. N. Tolstoy Library, guests were treated to a lecture entitled “Ships in Fine Arts,” a brain-ring entitled “We are in Sailor Shirts,” a historical hour entitled “Saved by Nakhimov,” and a broadcast of documentaries from the series “Honor and Loyalty. Russian Admirals.”
Navy Day is a special holiday for Sevastopol. On this day, it is important to congratulate our military, thank them for their service, and remember their exploits. Congratulations to the sailors, officers, and everyone who served at sea. Thank you for your service, happy holiday! – the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Deputy Governor Igor Mikheev.
Also in honor of the holiday, the STV channel launched a campaign in which people could record video greetings for the sailors. More than 90 videos were sent by residents, guests of Sevastopol, heads of government bodies, public figures of the city and other regions of the country.
Sevastopol is truly the pride of Russian sailors, and Navy Day is always celebrated here in a special way. But the most important thing is to congratulate our sailors, the defenders who guard our peace day after day. Thank you, guys! Happy holiday— notes Sevastopol resident Inga.
The city was also traditionally decorated with flags for the holiday. And at the end of the day, guests and residents of Sevastopol were treated to an evening motor rally. The route covered the main streets of the city and went to the Victory Park parking lot. 25 cars took part in it, among the drivers were activists of the United Russia party, parliamentarians, motorists and representatives of the Motorsport Federation.
Let us recall that July 29, in honor of the Navy Day and the Day of the Baptism of Rus, was declared a non-working holiday by the Governor’s decree. Health department institutions will operate as usual, and duty groups will be opened in kindergartens.
