Nearly 250 corruption crimes detected in Crimea in six months

In the first half of this year, 241 corruption-related crimes were registered in Crimea. According to the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea, more than half of the identified crimes of this category are facts of bribery (136), the third part is fraud, embezzlement and embezzlement committed using one’s official position.

A quarter of criminal cases were initiated on the facts of acts that caused damage on a large and especially large scale. During the period under review, both the total number of detected corruption-related crimes and the facts of receiving bribes increased, which was the result of the implementation of additional anti-corruption measures, coordination activities and interdepartmental interaction. Based on the materials of the prosecutor’s office, 20 criminal cases of corruption were initiated— specified in the supervisory department.

Thus, according to the materials of the prosecutor’s office of Evpatoria, a criminal case was initiated on abuse of authority when spending budget funds for the purchase of festive illuminations, the amount of damage amounted to more than 13 million rubles. Based on the materials of the Krasnoperekopsk Interdistrict Prosecutor’s Office, a criminal case was initiated on the overestimation of the cost of installing street lighting in Krasnoperekopsk, which caused damage in the amount of more than 6 million rubles.

Damages in the amount of 120 million rubles were established in completed criminal cases of corruption, half of this amount was reimbursed.
