“New Chersonesus” welcomed a million guests in the first 100 days of operation
CrimeaPRESS reports:
“New Chersonesus” received 1 million visitors in 100 days from the opening day. The museum and temple complex of Sevastopol still remains one of the most popular cultural sites in Russia— said the press service.
At the end of autumn, the complex is mainly visited by residents of Crimea who are interested in the history of Christianity, Chersonesos, Russia, including Crimea, Sevastopol, the regions of Donbass and Novorossiya.
Taken together, the museum and temple complex is not only one of the most popular attractions in the country, but also a whole cluster of modern infrastructure: from spiritual and educational centers to food outlets and guest accommodation with many jobs,” notes Ivan Esin, director of the Humanitarian Projects Foundation.
At the same time, the facility continues to expand and develop the tourism industry of Sevastopol. Thus, accommodation in a four-star hotel on the territory of the complex has become available for tourists and pilgrims.
One of the striking examples of the popularity of “New Chersonesos” was the Museum of Crimea and Novorossiya. In just 100 days, 350 thousand people visited it. Also, they continue to prepare for the opening of the Museum of Antiquity and Byzantium, which will be located in the largest building of “New Chersonesus”.
Today, painstaking work is underway to select exhibits. Among them are unique items that were found during excavations in the southern suburbs, — say the press service of “New Chersonesus”.
The exhibition is organized in such a way that everyone can go their own way from the “Greece, Rome, Byzantium” hall to the “Museum about the Museum” hall. The latter will become a special part of the exhibition, where guests will be introduced to the complex history of the Chersonesos Archaeological Museum itself. Visitors will be able to look at the museum business from a different perspective and appreciate the difficulties of preserving cultural heritage through the prism of time.
