New rules for certification of guide instructors are in effect in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Since July 1, certification has become mandatory for instructor-guides in the legal field. They will have to confirm their knowledge and skills once every five years. Instructor-guides are people who work on routes that pass through hard-to-reach areas, water, mountain and other objects.

A unified federal register of instructors-guides is also starting to operate, and specialists will be able to get into it only after successfully passing the certification. This register includes information about whether the instructor-guide has certification, about the organization that certified him, and also about the routes along which the instructor can lead tourists.

Thanks to this register, a tourist can always check whether an instructor-guide has the right to accompany him on a hike. The same can be done by travel agencies and tour operators who hire instructors for work.

The requirement for a certified instructor-guide is related to the need for qualified personnel in the domestic tourism market. Thus, an uncertified guide can form an incorrect idea of the region and the country in tourists, providing them with unreliable and distorted information. The presence of a certificate indicates that the guide knows the language, history of the country and the region, and also has the appropriate education— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Deputy Governor of Sevastopol Maria Litovko.

Instructor-guides who successfully pass the certification will receive a badge with a QR code — after pointing a mobile phone camera at it, a tourist will be able to check whether the instructor-guide has the necessary knowledge and experience to work on the route.

These rules, developed by State Duma deputies jointly with the Russian Ministry of Economic Development, came into effect after amendments to the federal law on tourism came into force. They concern mountaineering, mountain, hiking, water, skiing, speleological and underwater tourism.
