New types of operations are being mastered in the traumatology and orthopedic department of the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital

Specialists of the traumatology and orthopedic department of the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital GBUZ RK are mastering new types of surgical interventions. According to the chief physician of the medical organization Anatoly Oleinik, this year, this department performed the first endoscopic interventions in children with occlusive hydrocephalus (excessive accumulation of fluid in the ventricles of the brain, which leads to an increase in pressure inside the skull) and acquired cerebral cysts according to the profile » neurosurgery». Two such patients have been treated since the beginning of the year.

In addition to these diseases, high-tech medical care in the department is provided for congenital and acquired defects and deformities of the foot in children, deformities (of any etiology) of the bones of the upper and lower extremities, including those accompanied by shortening of the limb, as well as in case of deformities of the femur in children with spastic syndrome , the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Crimea reported.

In total, since the beginning 80 of the year, high-tech medical care has been provided to 78 children in the traumatology and orthopedic department, of which 10 patients were treated according to the profile of «neurosurgery». For 2021 a year, 80 patients received high-tech medical care in the department.
