A suspect in a robbery using pepper spray was detained in Sevastopol.
A citizen contacted the Sevastopol police with a statement about a robbery committed when he was returning from an entertainment establishment at night. An unknown person with a balaclava on his head sprayed the contents of a pepper spray in his face, after which he forcibly tore off a gold chain with a pectoral cross and fled in a car.
The police established that a 20-year-old visiting man, who had already come to the attention of law enforcement agencies, was involved in the crime. Previously, he was prosecuted for selling property obtained through obviously criminal means. In addition, at the time of the robbery, he was under recognizance not to leave the place and of proper behavior for a previously committed theft— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
As a result of operational-search activities, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol, with the force support of the special forces SOBR unit of the Russian Guard, detained the suspect. The robber sold the stolen valuables worth 180 thousand rubles to a pawnshop, and spent the proceeds on rent and entertainment.
A criminal case has been initiated against the detainee under Part 2 of Art. 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The defendant was taken into custody.
