Nikitsky Botanical Garden: General of the tulip parade 2024 – Crown of Dynasty variety
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Nikitsky Botanical Garden summed up the results of the popular vote to determine the General of the 2024 Tulip Parade.
At the 2024 exhibition, five varieties of the smallest garden class of tulips — crown tulips — were presented. At the time the class was identified in 2018, there were 11 varieties. Crown-shaped tulips are distinguished by the structure of the flower — it looks like a crown or star due to the original bend of the very dense “petals” (perianth lobes). Experts amusingly characterize this bend as follows: “Resembles the spout of a teapot.”notes Head of the Floriculture Laboratory, Candidate of Biological Sciences Vera Zykova.
The Crown of Dynasty variety is a new product at this year’s exhibition from the class of crown-shaped tulips. It was created in 2016 in the Netherlands. Experts say it showed itself as an early-blooming and long-blooming variety — it bloomed for almost a month from March 15 to April 12 and opened first among the crown-shaped tulips at our exhibition.
Its flowers had a two-tone color — a gentle transition from golden green to pink. Gracefully curved dense petals make these tulips look like roses. This variety, with its delicate tints of color, reminds me of a tea rose — they were said to be painted in the shades of dawn. And somewhere from childhood comes a comparison with a cream rose on a cake. I completely agree that this was one of the most spectacular varieties of the NBS Tulip Parade 2024says Vera Zykova.
The qualifying round for the title of general, the Crown of Dynasty variety, was held at number 7, which became lucky for him. Voting was active on the website of the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Nikitsky Botanical Garden — National Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences” and on the social networks of the NBS-NSC.
