Northern State University has developed a complex to simplify the integration of weather services of new regions into the Russian Federation system
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Scientists from Sevastopol State University have proposed a solution that will make it possible to quickly integrate a weather data processing system in new regions into the Russian data collection system.
All information that is transmitted to the data collection center by organizations carrying out hydrometeorological observations must be unified. But in Russia and Ukraine there are different requirements for the format of storing and transmitting data, and first Crimea and Sevastopol, and now four more regions found themselves in a situation where data within the region is collected under one format, and they need to be transferred to a single center in Obninsk friend, — the press service of the university quotes Vladislav Evstigneev, leading researcher at the research laboratory “Regional and Climatic Systems” of the Institute for Advanced Studies of Northern State University.
He said that SevSU already has experience in developing similar software products, and was able to quickly prepare a system that would be both familiar to meteorological service workers in new regions and meet the requirements of Roshydromet. It has already been tested, including on the basis of Northern State University, since the university has a license from Roshydromet to carry out environmental monitoring.
The program will allow the collected data to be adapted to Russian state standards in terms of their processing, analysis, storage and transmission to a single global data center. At the same time, employees will not have to retrain, as would be the case with the existing Roshydrodmet program, which requires entering data through special coding and other special knowledge. Now our goal is for our program to be included in the state register of domestic software, that is, to be officially verified so that it can be used by institutions conducting hydrometeorological observations, — notes the interlocutor.
According to the expert, such a system can be useful not only for the state weather service. Unlike a specialized program, if included in the register, it will be more accessible to employees of third-party organizations that carry out hydrometeorological monitoring for their own purposes (for example, agricultural enterprises) and would like to make this data available to other persons.
