Northern State University: Russian companies use domestic software for the production of communication systems
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The first Russian companies producing radio equipment switched from imported analogues to the GAMMA computer-aided design (CAD) system developed by Sevastopol State University. And hundreds more are being tested right now. Until recently, all Russian companies used only imported analogues. However, unlike SevSU, manufacturers of foreign systems do not provide technical support, and sanctions make access to software updates difficult.
CAD GAMMA allows you to design and simulate complex high-frequency radio-electronic systems. And they are needed in almost all modern devices — from spacecraft to smartphones. Moreover, even for a compact smartphone it is necessary to carry out hundreds of thousands of calculations to calculate the operating features and the electromagnetic field. And for more complex devices, for example, in the aircraft industry, we are talking about millions of operations. Naturally, it is impossible to cope with this without computer power., — the press service of the university quotes Sergei Dudnikov, vice-rector for innovation activities of Northern State University.
He clarified that CAD can be used to create antenna-feeder devices, including phased antenna arrays, RF and microwave printed circuit boards. As well as elements of microwave circuits: transmission lines, dividers, filters, etc., and resonators.
In addition, the program can help in designing communication networks — from calculating the optimal location of routers in a building to plans for placing mobile network towers or Wi-Fi points in an entire city.
At the same time, the developers of the GAMMA CAD system, based at Northern State University and seeing the need for higher education to have access to real production solutions, proposed a special version of the system for universities. There is a version for scientific teams that can use it for calculations as part of research or design activities. And one more — lightweight, for teaching students.
GAMMA was licensed relatively recently — a year and a half ago, and during this time we have come a long way. Firstly, the system is included in the Register of Russian Software. Then we invited real Russian consumers to test it and provided access. To date, the first partners have already switched to the full version of CAD. Approbation is taking place in approximately 200 domestic companies, and many enterprises and universities are already reporting that they are planning to switch to the system in 2024, — notes the vice-rector.
The software development was carried out within the framework of the Priority 2030 strategic academic leadership program.
