Not «arrival» and not «burning warehouses» — a mothballed landfill caught fire in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Ukrainian publics in social networks and instant messengers choked with delight when they saw photos and videos with puffs of smoke in an “open field” in Crimea. There are many versions and statements: from “arrivals” and explosions arranged by “partisans” to burning military warehouses. Oops … The reality is more trivial — a mothballed landfill was on fire in the Kirov region of Crimea. It’s bad, of course, — any fire is a problem, but there were definitely no “explosions” and “arrivals” there.
The cause of the fire with puffs of black smoke was a violation of fire safety at a mothballed solid waste landfill. Emergency services are on the scene to contain the fire.
The prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea organized an investigation into the circumstances of the incident in the Kirovsky district.
According to preliminary information, today, June 26, a fire was reported at a landfill for the storage of solid domestic waste in the Kirovsky district, which has been mothballed since 2020. During the organized events, all the circumstances of the incident will be established, as well as an assessment will be made of the fulfillment by responsible persons of the requirements of federal legislation, including fire safety. Based on the results of the inspection, if there are grounds, prosecutorial response measures will be taken.— reported in the supervisory department.
The fire area is about 900 square meters. The fire has been contained but has not yet been extinguished.
