And a few days earlier — on November 16, the notary of the city of Sevastopol Inessa Streltsova conducted a lesson in legal literacy for 9th grade students of school No. 6 (State budgetary educational institution of the city of Sevastopol “Secondary School No. 6”).

The educational events were timed to coincide with the All-Russian Day of Legal Assistance for Children, which is held annually on November 20 on World Children’s Day.

Sevastopol notaries told the children about the historical background of this holiday, and since the process of education implies comprehensive development, the topic of the lesson was the rights and responsibilities of children.

The development of legal literacy in our country begins from preschool age. Children know that they are given rights from birth, and their circle of responsibilities expands as they grow older. Considering that in the ninth grade there are children who have reached the age of 14, the age of partial legal responsibility, legal literacy is especially relevant for them.

The notaries told the children about the possible legal consequences of “childish pranks” and that liability can be not only administrative, but also criminal.

Students from both schools actively participated in the conversation, expressed their thoughts, and asked questions.

During the lessons, notaries did not forget to mention that children who find themselves in difficult life situations can and should seek help. For this purpose, there are not only specialized bodies, but also the office of the Ombudsman for Children’s Rights. Every child can count on comprehensive assistance, ranging from a friendly conversation with an adult to the help of specialized authorities that will be involved if necessary.
