November 1 in the Nikitsky Botanical Garden — opening of the Chrysanthemum Ball “Sun of Autumn”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The Nikitsky Botanical Garden celebrates its seventieth anniversary exhibition of chrysanthemums with painted carpets of forty thousand plants.
The total number of varieties and hybrid forms presented at the exhibition is 452! So plan a long walk if you want to see all the beauties, — invites to the Ball the director of the NBS-NSC, corresponding member. RAS Yuri Plugatar. – Moreover, the majority this time are chrysanthemums selected specifically from the Nikitsky Botanical Garden — 263 varieties and hybrid forms. (So that these figures do not sound abstract, let me remind you that in the first year after the Crimean spring, in the fall of 2015, we presented 200 varieties and forms of chrysanthemums, including 60 from Crimean breeders).
To ensure that the contribution of Nikitsky Garden scientists is appreciated by our contemporaries, for the first time in the history of NBS-NNS we created a huge exhibition where chrysanthemums bred by our breeders were planted in groups. I am sure that everyone will want to see the living creations of Ivan Zabelin, Alla Glazurina, Vera Babkina, Galina Feofilova, Tatyana Sholokhova, Zoya Andryushenkova, Natalia Smykova!
Also for the first time, we grouped in one place and presented to our guests the Queens of previous exhibitions, starting in 2007, when the first popular vote for the best of the best took place. This “catwalk” of beauties will not leave anyone indifferent!” Traditionally, the Nikitsky Garden scientist-breeders will also present the debutantes of the Ball. Of the small-flowered chrysanthemums, three introduced varieties and five hybrid forms of selection from the Nikitsky Botanical Garden are showing off at the Ball for the first time. Of the large-flowered plants, 30 hybrid forms await your assessment — new selectionssay garden experts.
One of the main surprises of the 2023 exhibition is the selection plot. This tradition appeared in 2015, using the example of four varieties of the collection. And now 3.5 thousand garden chrysanthemum seedlings have been planted here! This, one might say, is the birthplace of new varieties!
The most interesting seedlings will be marked with numbers, and exhibition guests will be able to suggest their names for them. The most original of them will be selected and assigned to future varieties.
And, of course, at the Ball itself, as well as on the website and social networks of the Nikitsky Garden, you will be able to vote for the Princess and Queen of the Chrysanthemum Ball 2023. We remind you that ticket prices during the chrysanthemum exhibition remain the same. Details of the work schedule and numerous benefits can be found on the NBS-NSC website https://nikitasad.ru And, finally, everyone who was born on November 1 will be able to go to Nikitsky Garden on this day for free! — noted in the Nikitsky Botanical Institute.
Also free entry on this day is for artists with sketchbooks.
