People said: On November 24, Fyodor begins to chill the earth. It is really getting cold, and therefore it is not surprising that people call the holiday Studite. Usually the time came when the toboggan route opened, and it is not surprising that November 24 was known in the minds of the people as Sannitsa. On November 24, peasants prepared for a long journey and went to markets to sell their goods. In addition, as entertainment they rode sleighs and held festivities. In the evening the girls wondered about their betrothed.
The Church today honors the memory of Theodore (Fedor) Studite. He lived in the VIII-IX centuries. He was known as a Byzantine monk. Fedor was born into the family of an official and received a good education. His uncle was the abbot of the monastery, and it was under his influence that Fedor took monastic vows. Together with Fyodor, his wife named Anna also decided to serve God. Soon Fedor became abbot and was known for his ascetic lifestyle. He was actively involved in preaching the Christian faith, denouncing the vices of rulers and defending shrines from the actions of iconoclasts. It was for this that Fedor himself was repeatedly persecuted. At the end of the 8th century, Feodor, together with his students, decided to settle in the Studite monastery, which later became famous among adherents of Christianity. For the monastery, the abbot developed a fairly strict charter, which was definitely worth following for those who wanted to become part of the brethren of the monastery. It is interesting that much later it was this charter that became the basis for similar charters of other Russian monasteries.

- If you cook cabbage soup on this day and eat it hot, the winter will be warm and mild. The more cabbage soup you eat, the better and more favorable the winter will be.
- And in order to collect a lot of berries in the forest in the summer, it was customary for Fyodor the Studite to brew and drink tea with strawberries and raspberries.
- You should not have a wedding or arrange matchmaking on this day — this will lead to failure in marriage.
- If you don’t throw out cracked dishes from your house on November 24, you will spend the whole year in poverty.
