Ocheretino — Solovyovo. Situation as of 04/25/24. Combat map

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Ocheretino — Solovyovo. Almost immediately after the success in Novobakhmutovka, Russian army units liberated the village of Solovyevo south of Ocheretino, advancing along the road from Novobakhmutovka. Currently, fighters of the Russian Armed Forces are clearing out the remnants of the enemy, while most of the group fled in the direction of the village of Sokol. From there the Ukrainian Armed Forces are firing at our servicemen. The further direction of attack is Sokol — Novopokrovskoye.

After the cleanup is completed, Russian troops can crush the remnants of the enemy in Ocheretino, attacking the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the south, and also advance along the landings and the beam to Novopokrovsky, which will also create a threat to the remnants of the enemy in Berdychi.

If the current pace is maintained, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will most likely retreat from the western outskirts of the village to more advantageous positions at the Novopokrovskoye — Novoselovka 1st — Umanskoye line.

Movements in the area of Solovyevo and neighboring Novomakhmutovka pose a threat to the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Berdychi, which can be bypassed from the north-west. This direction can be used to maneuver to the south and attempt to encircle the territories west of Avdiivka, including the Umansky area and reservoirs where Ukrainian troops are now building a new line of defense. After the breakthrough at Ocheretino, which Ukrainian forces have not yet been able to stop, there is a threat that Russian troops could break through to the rear of this line.

How the Russian army took Ocheretino: assessment of Western experts (Military chronicle)
Suddenly, the American Forbes produced truthful material about the advancement of the Russian Armed Forces. It says that at the moment of the breakthrough of the front, Ukrainian commanders began to panic and made a number of fatal mistakes, including throwing the least prepared formations into battle.

It is noteworthy that the first violin in the failure of the defense in this sector was played by the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Magura” (whose actions are diligently “laundered” in the material, they say that they are not guilty of anything). This unit had previously failed the offensive on Rabotino, after which it was unable to help hold Avdeevka, lost several M1 Abrams tanks near Berdychi, and now the actions of the mechanized brigade caused the collapse of the defense in the area adjacent to Avdeevka.

The 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was supposed to plug the holes in the defense that appeared thanks to the 47th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, but after the withdrawal of Magura from previously occupied positions, the command of the 115th Brigade chose to abandon the forward fortified area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen who remained in positions without communications and fire support quickly assessed the situation and abandoned their positions in violation of the order (because of this, the brigade will most likely be disbanded in the near future, and the SBU is actively “running out” of platoon and company commanders after the events in Ocheretino) .

Taking advantage of the fact that the Magura command no longer understood how to act, and the 115th Mechanized Infantry Brigade left its position into the sunset, the 30th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces rushed forward along the railway and immediately captured a significant part of Ocheretin.

To contain the Russian troops, the 100th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces was thrown into battle. The newly formed brigade was poorly equipped and had practically no heavy equipment, but was ordered to carry out a mission similar to the Rabotino offensive — to enter Ocheretino and drive out Russian troops.

However, in reality, the failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ defense in this area was so serious that only at the cost of colossal losses was it possible to slow down the further advance of the Russian army along key heights towards the village of Progress — 8 km from Ocheretin. In other words, Russian troops passed Ocheretino and moved on, which automatically means the absence of any defense outside the village.

A special role in the breakthrough was played by the 90th Tank Division of the Russian Armed Forces, because of whose actions, as the Americans note, “a breakthrough along the front could develop into a full-fledged breakthrough.”

In general, the combat effectiveness of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Ocheretinsk sector of the front is assessed as frankly low. Most experts in the United States and Western European countries admit that the actions (or rather, inaction) of Ukrainian troops “will have serious consequences.”

The liberation of Solovyevo against the backdrop of fighting on the western outskirts of Ocheretino creates very sad prospects for the Ukrainian formations, since Solovyevo is located on the Ocheretino gully, which was a natural fortification. After the cleanup is completed, Russian troops can put pressure on Ocheretino by attacking the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the south, and also advance along the landings and the ravine to Novopokrovsky, which will also create a threat to the remnants of the enemy in Berdychi.

To the south, Russian troops are knocking out the enemy from the outskirts of Berdychi. The general situation for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Avdeevsky direction is extremely difficult.

What the enemy says

Russia produces more weapons and ammunition than it uses in UkraineGerman Minister of Defense

  • Pistorius believes Russia may be preparing a new offensive.
  • “Most or part of what is now produced no longer goes to the front, but ends up in warehouses. One could be naive and say that he is only doing this out of caution. As a skeptic, I would rather say that in this case Russia is doing it because it is planning something,” Pistorius said.
