October 18 is Kharitina's day. Can you… spin?

CrimeaPRESS reports:

October 18 peasants usually tried to complete all garden and field work — they began to do household chores. The evenings begin, in which the girls while away the time at the spinning wheels. By the way, the art of spinning has long been valued in Rus’, and therefore it was not allowed to shirk work. Since Saint Charitina was a weaver and patroness of women, the obligatory rule of the day states that all women today must do needlework. You can embroider, spin, knit, sew. Signs for October 18 say that all these things will bring real happiness to a woman, since she will create her own life-giving thread with her own hands.

But if you don’t pick up needlework, you won’t be able to “weave” happiness into your life.

Signs of this day, October 18:

  • If the first snow fell on this day, then you won’t have to wait for winter for a long time.
  • When the birds fly away together to warmer climes, expect a harsh winter.
  • If there is no wind at all on Gregory, then in the coming days there will be a strong cold snap.
  • Signs for October 18 say that if a woman does needlework on Kharitina, she will have a happy life.
  • On this day, it is customary to tie a protective red thread on the wrist.
  • On October 18, happy women are born who have a talent for needlework.
In Rus’, weaving craft was highly valued. The art of patterned weaving received a high level of development among the Slavs. On simple weaving mills, weavers produced smooth fabrics and beautifully patterned fabrics. Some of the patterned items were used to decorate clothes, while others were used to decorate peasant interiors. The main material was linen thread, to which wool or hemp thread was sometimes added. Thanks to the use of various techniques of weaving threads into fabric, all kinds of ornamental patterns were created.
Name day is celebrated on October 18: Alexey, Gabriel, Denis, Evdokim, Kuzma, Matvey, Peter, Philip.

The memory of the holy martyr Kharitina is venerated in the church

She suffered for her faith in the city of Ponte around the 4th century. It is known that in early childhood Kharitina was left an orphan and was raised by Claudius, a pious and kind man. Kharitina believed in Christ, after which she decided to devote her life to serving him. Claudius loved the girl like his own daughter, supported her religious beliefs and even built a house for her, since Kharitina really wanted to live in solitude in order to have strength and time for prayer.
For many believers, Kharitina became an example of an exemplary Christian, and many, thanks to her, also believed in Christ. But one day Charitina was slandered by the pagans, as a result of which she was brought to trial. Humiliation and torture did not force Kharitina to renounce her religious beliefs, as a result of which she was executed.

And on October 18th they celebrate:
